“The first thing to say to any foreigners thinking of applying for Spanish residency is that you absolutely *can* do it all on your own. But, take note: there’s a lot of conflicting advice out there, and some of the key pieces of information you need are either not published on the official websites or buried in a thicket of legalese.
Having heard of a few British friends spending huge amounts of time, energy and money (including months of extra living costs) while attempting to crack the mysteries of the Spanish immigration system on their own, we felt it was a false economy not to work with a relocation agent.
